The Creative Catalyst

I’m on a mission to champion our local talent. I want to shine a light on the incredible creatives in Blueridge and inspire more artists to showcase their work!

From Feature Films to Local Art

What brought you to the BCA board? After chairing the Blueridge Good Neighbour Day (BGND) planning committee, joining the board felt like the perfect way to stay active in the community while shifting gears from high-energy event planning.

How does your professional background influence your work? Before pivoting to life as a full-time artist and illustrator, I spent years as a feature film animator in London and Vancouver. I worked on films like Harry Potter, The Amazing Spider-Man, and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. Today, I blend that creative problem-solving with my perspective as a mother of two young children to help our families feel more connected.

What is your favourite Blueridge tradition? It has to be BGND, of course! It is such a beautiful day of celebration and seeing the community come together.

Local Recommendations

  • The “Artistic” Tip: If you visit United Strangers, keep an eye out for a book called ‘Shapeless Lee’ on their shelves—it’s actually a children’s book I illustrated!
  • The Perfect Afternoon: I love the ‘doorstep access’ we have to the Seymour trails. You’ll find me hiking from my house toward Rice Lake or trekking over to Deep Cove for a treat.
  • A Goal for the Term: I really want to encourage more Blueridge artists to participate in the North Shore Art Crawl. We have so much talent here!
