Volunteer Opportunities

The Blueridge Community Association (BCA) is run by committed and passionate volunteers on behalf of all residents of Blueridge and Seymour Heights.
Throughout the year, we have many opportunities for you to get involved, such as Good Neighbour Day, Newsletter Delivery, the Good Neighbour Greetings Team, the Blueridge Sharing Garden, and more.
Currently open positions are posted below. Click on any of them to get more details. If you are interested in one or more of these opportunities, please fill out and submit the Volunteer Information Form, and we will contact you within 48 hours to discuss it in more detail.
Would You Like to Help Create the Blueridge Bulletin?
As you might have noticed, the Blueridge Bulletin has become a labour of love. A lot of time and effort goes into each issue, and while your editor is happy to do it, he could use some help.
We regularly ask for articles and photos, and that is great, but I help in is role as the editor would be great too.
For starters, we’d like someone very detail-oriented take over the collection and organization of the monthly calendar. It takes 2 – 4 hours per month to organize the monthly calendar article. It also interacts with the Events Calendar on the BCA’s website and (usually) one or more articles in each month’s issue. If you have some time for a particular task that needs attention to detail, please email bulletin@blueridgeca.org and let us know. The right candidate may grow into additional editing duties on the Bulletin if desired.
All you need are the following:
- a computer & web browser
- a few free hours each month
- a seriously keen attention to detail
- an understanding of Google Docs
- the ability and willingness to meet the monthly deadline
Other attributes that could be useful:
- Familiarity with MailChimp and/or WordPress will make things easier if you want to grow in the role
- A quirky sense of humour is definitely an asset
Please note: this is all volunteer work. Everything the BCA does is run by volunteers, and this is no exception. Again, if you are interested in helping make the Blueridge Bulletin interesting and useful, please email bulletin@blueridgeca.org and let’s talk! Or fill out the form below.
The Neighbours Helping Neighbours initiative creates a formal way for residents to support each other during unexpected life challenges. As a volunteer, you will perform simple, yet crucial, acts of kindness for neighbours who may be hesitant to ask for help. These tasks focus on short-term assistance for those facing limited mobility, illness, or other situations that make daily tasks difficult. Volunteer activities could include picking up groceries, running basic errands, mowing a lawn, or providing transportation for seniors or to medical appointments. By lending a hand, you will help foster a stronger, more caring Blueridge community and ensure everyone feels comfortable seeking and receiving support when life throws a curveball. For more information, see the Neighbours Helping Neighbours page and fill out the form there!

- Editing and polishing existing content to improve readability.

- Conduct community research and suggest new content ideas to address gaps in the association’s current content.
Join a dedicated group of volunteers who distribute our community newsletter 3 times a year (March, June and November) to 1500 homes in Blueridge and Seymour Heights. We have 26 routes that we require volunteers for. Most routes take approximately 45 minutes to finish. Several of our volunteers involve the whole family as a way to introduce volunteerism to their children. Joining the group does not mean committing to every newsletter delivery. You can opt in or opt out as your schedule allows.
