Blueridge Cares 2024

It’s that time of the year: The Holidays! There’s food and drink aplenty, family gatherings, and gifts for all. Or at least, that’s the way it’s supposed to be, but it’s not like that for everyone. Some lack the resources to make it happen, or find the time stressful. That’s not what’s supposed to happen, but it does, and the BCA wants to help make things a bit better where we can.

Each year we work with the neighbourhood to collect donations and gifts for families here in Blueridge who need some extra help, and 2024 is no exception.

Want to donate?

If you’d like to help those in need, there are several ways to do so:

  • Purchase a gift for someone in need. We’ll provide you with a gift tag and all the details. You purchase the gift, wrap it, attach the tag, and bring it back to us. We’ll collect all the gifts and deliver them in time for Christmas. To participate, fill out this form or email blueridgecares@blueridgeca.org and we’ll be in touch when we know what gifts are needed.
  • Purchase a grocery store gift card for a family. We will bundle them with a holiday card and deliver them to a family who needs a little help.
  • Donate cash. If you want to help but lack the time, our elves can do the shopping. We accept cheques (email blueridgecares@blueridgeca.org to learn where to drop them off) or e-transfers to the BCA Treasurer Ted Bancroft at tedb85@gmail.com.
  • Volunteer. If you are interested in becoming one of our elves, and have time to do some shopping and wrapping, or help organize and deliver gifts, send us an email at blueridgecares@blueridgeca.org and let us know. We’ll get back to you and let you know where we need help.

The donation window closes on December 15th. We look forward to hearing from you before then!

However you choose to help, thank you very much!

Note: The BCA has stopped accepting requests from those in need at this time. Our elves need time to work their magic, and we sincerely hope that every Blueridge resident who needs help has already contacted us.

If you find yourself in need this holiday season – or any time – we encourage anyone needing significant help of any kind to review our Resources for Those In Need. There you’ll find a list of organizations that may be able to help.

Happy Holidays!
