BCA Social Media Guidelines

How to Submit to our Social Media
To ensure your content looks its best on the Blueridge Community Association’s social media channels (which include Facebook and Instagram) please follow these simple formatting guidelines before sending us your graphics.
1. Dimensions & Sizes
We recommend providing your graphics in the following sizes for the best resolution:
- Square (Main Feed): 1080 x 1080 pixels
- Best for: Both Facebook and Instagram standard posts.
- Vertical (Stories): 1080 x 1920 pixels
- Best for: Instagram/Facebook Stories. Keep text away from the top and bottom 200 pixels so it isn’t covered by the app’s interface.
- Landscape (Facebook Only): 1200 x 630 pixels
- Best for: Facebook-specific announcements or Event Headers.
2. Design Tips for High Engagement
- Keep it Simple: Use a clear headline and a high-quality photo.
- The “Caption Rule”: Avoid “text-heavy” graphics. Put the main hook on the image, and provide the fine details (dates, times, and full URLs) to us in a text format so we can include them in the written caption.
- Branding: If you are a local business or group, include your logo in one of the corners.
3. File Formats
- Graphics/Posters: Please send as .PNG (to keep text sharp).
- Avoid .PDFs: PDF files are great for email but hard to share on social media. Consider your desired exposure.
- Photos: For best results, send as high-resolution .JPG files.
- Video: Send as .MP4 (under 60 seconds preferred for Instagram).
Following these guidelines will help ensure your information gets posted and shared quickly.
4. Submission Checklist
Before sending your content to the BCA, please ensure you have included:
- The graphic file (meeting the sizes above).
- The suggested caption text (no hashtags needed).
- Any specific website links you want us to include, along with any relevant dates or locations.
5. Where to Send Things?
Where you submit to depends on what you want. The BCA has several different places we can share things:
- social media (Facebook and Instagram)
- our website
- the Blueridge Bulletin (our monthly email)
- the Blueridge Community News, our printed newsletter
The best place to send your submission as a rule is:
Email send there gets delivered to everyone involved in communications at the BCA. We all talk regularly and work together to publish things in the right places. So if you’re not sure or if there is any chance that more than one place is right for your item, that’s the address to use.
That said, if you know exactly where your item should be published, we have the following additional options available:
- socialmedia@blueridgeca.org – sends to our social media team
- bulletin@blueridgeca.org – sends to the editor of the Blueridge Bulletin, the monthly email
- newsletter@blueridgeca.org – sends to the editor of our printed newsletter, which is delivered to local mailboxes three times a year by volunteers

- We also reserve the right to share anything sent to us to our other channels if we think that’s best.
