My focus each year as a Director is on ensuring the BCA remains sustainable, vibrant and strong for the next generation of residents.
Built for Longevity
What motivated you to join the BCA board? After living in Blueridge for over 20 years, I wanted to give back to our community. I felt it was time to move from resident to contributor. I’m particularly interested in succession planning—mentoring and helping new board members find their footing and ensuring the BCA has the structure it needs to thrive long into the future.
How does your professional background help the board? My career was in financial services, which gave me extensive experience working with non-profits and volunteer boards across the North Shore and the Downtown Eastside. Those groups included the Community Housing Action Committee (CHAC), EMBERS, the Mortgage Investment Association of BC (MIABC), and Leaders of Tomorrow. I enjoy using that knowledge to help improve how the BCA functions as an organization.
What is the heart of Blueridge to you? The local schools. Many of my favourite memories are from school and community events held at Blueridge Elementary, including Blueridge Good Neighbour Day. The school is such an important focal point and asset for all of us.
The Local Perspective
- The “Bonus” Feature: One thing I love about Blueridge is the network of walking trails that connect our streets. It allows us to visit neighbours and get around without ever having to get in a car. It’s a huge part of what makes the neighbourhood feel connected, especially if you have a dog or granddog.
- The Perfect Afternoon: You’ll find me enjoying a hike or a walk on our local trails with neighbourhood friends. We are incredibly fortunate to have this network right on our doorstep.
- Fun Fact: I was raised on the North Shore and I’ve spent my life enjoying the outdoors here, including skiing, biking and hiking. 35+ year resident of Blueridge.
Quick Hits
- One word to describe Blueridge: Peaceful.
- Favourite BCA Event: Blueridge Good Neighbour Day—it perfectly showcases our community spirit.
- Outside the BCA: I’m usually walking, enjoying the outdoors, or helping in our community. And of course I enjoy spending time with our grandchildren.
