40 Years of Blueridge Pride

I just want to give back to Blueridge by helping it maintain its warm and generous nature in welcoming younger families and newcomers.

A Deep Connection to Home

What inspired you to join the BCA board? After living and raising our children here for 40 years, we feel incredibly lucky. My goal isn’t a specific project; it’s about preservation. I want to help the BCA maintain the generous spirit that makes this neighbourhood so special for the families and newcomers moving in today.

You’ve been a voice for the community for years—tell us about that. I’ve had the pleasure of editing the Blueridge Community News for several years. It’s a modest publication compared to Jeff’s monthly Blueridge Bulletin, but it’s been a joy to help my neighbours stay connected to all things local.

What is your favourite local tradition? For 30 years, we’ve joined our neighbours every Christmas Eve for a 30-minute carolling session, complete with a brass band and emcee. It’s magic. Our annual end-of-summer street party is a very close second!

Local Recommendations

  • The Perfect Afternoon: Sauntering up the Baden-Powell to a spot my spouse and I call “the Canadian Shield.” We rest on the bedrock for a few minutes before hiking back home along the creekside path.
  • The Blueridge “Must-Visit”: We tell all our Airbnb guests about United Strangers. Without fail, they always come back raving about it!
  • A Reassuring Fact: As a Blockwatch co-captain, I see the weekly RCMP crime maps. It is rare to see an incident in our area—it truly is one of the North Shore’s quietest and most peaceful communities.

Quick Hits

  • One word to describe Blueridge: Peaceful.
  • Favourite BCA Event: Christmas Eve Carolling.
  • When I’m not volunteering: You’ll find me reading, sailing, or out on the trails.
