The Digital Architect & Bulletin Editor

I enjoy getting things done more than being in charge. Give me a task and let me run with it!

The Engine Behind the Information

What brought you to the BCA? In a previous life, I helped moderate a massive neighbourhood mailing list. I loved being in the loop and helping people solve problems. When I moved to Blueridge, I wanted to bring that same energy here. I started by reworking the BCA website, and now it has grown into a hub of local information.

You’re also the person behind the Blueridge Bulletin. How is that going?

The Bulletin has become much more than a monthly newsletter. It’s actually a local news aggregator and a micro-journalism project. I’ve recruited regular contributors and added columns to make it truly useful for the community. My favourite “event” is actually the first of every month. Once the Bulletin goes out, I can finally breathe again!

Oh, hey! If you don’t already get the Blueridge Bulletin, please please subscribe! It’s totally free, there are only 12 emails a year, and the latest issue is always linked on the BCA homepage.

What is your best advice for Blueridge residents? Meet your neighbours! It turns out there are a lot of kind and interesting people living right next door.

Getting to Know Jeff

  • The Tech Fixer: Since Jeff is often buried in his computer keeping our digital world running, he uses his (very!) rare free time to walk the local trails and work the kinks out.
  • Blueridge in a Word: Home.
  • A Man of Many Talents:

Jeff started out as a computer programmer, but then things got complicated. He tried unsuccessfully to retire three times. So far, the fourth attempt is mostly holding up. (He does have a very part-time job, but working only a few days a year hardly counts.)

For over a decade he was also an épée fencer.

Jeff fencing épée in the distant past.

He also spent something like 15 years co-teaching the art of stone carving.

Carving Italian alabaster the very messy way!

Somehow he also found time to become a volunteer firefighter, though all his training and certifications expired long ago.

At the pump panel. Don’t ask what all those dials mean now!

He says he has the weirdest resume on the planet.
