Blueridge snuggles right up against the forest, and that can mean elevated fire risk, even in our rainy climate. We keep the BCA homepage updated with the current fire danger level year-round as best we can. There are three different sources that we use for that information:

  • The BC Wildfire Service interactive map. This is updated daily and provides the most detailed look at fire danger levels in BC. This is where our fire danger rating usually comes from.
  • The Provincial Fire Danger Page. This appears to be updated from the interactive map early every afternoon. It doesn’t allow zooming in like the interactive map.
  • The DNV Fire Danger Page. Last we heard, this is updated twice a week during fire season by DNV staff.

Usually, these pages agree on the fire danger level. In the case that they do not, the higher danger is shown on the BCA homepage.

Generally, BCA webmaster updates our homepage in the morning. The time of that update varies, but it’s usually done before 10am. If there is ever a question, please visit the BC Wildfire Service interactive map.

There’s also a lot more fire-related information on the Resources page. See the “Fire” tab for relevant links.
