Syrian Refugee Project

The Blueridge Community Association is working with local residents to help with the Syrian Refugee Crisis. At this time we are fundraising in order to assist Mount Seymour United Church, who are working to bring a family of 7 (mom, dad, and 5 school-aged kids) to the Vancouver area. The family is currently in a refugee camp in Iraq. This is via private sponsorship through the “family-linked” stream. The family has relatives that are already living in the Lower Mainland. Currently, money and housing are the two most-needed items. All donations over $25 will receive a tax receipt. You can give directly at the church (specially marked envelopes are in the lobby) or via their online donation site  (indicate in the Comments field that your donation is to go to the Refugee Alliance). The BCA has held one fundraiser (December, Kids Toy and Clothing Sale) at which we raised $309 for the project. Look for more fundraisers in the future and as needs arise (furniture, transportation etc) we will send out a call to action. Another way to help is with a group in Deep Cove who are dedicated to helping the refugees arriving in Lesvos, Greece.
