It’s Salmonid Time!!

salmon ids releaseYes – it is that time of the year again, when a young salmon fry’s thoughts turn to leaving the safe habitat of the hatchery (or aquarium tank in an elementary school) for a  grand journey out into the Seymour River. You may have seen local school children releasing Steelhead fry into local creeks and tributaries around May 13th, and in June it will be the Coho fry’s turn.

The  Seymour Salmonid Society had been enhancing fish stocks on the Seymour River since 1987. To find out more about their activities, to volunteer with their organization, or to donate to their fundraising drive for a new hatchery roof – please visit their  website .
